How to avoid razor bumps on your neck from shaving
Razor bumps letting you down?

Many men, especially ethnic ones, suffer with a skin condition that causes pain and scarring on their neck area, which can be on the front area of their neck or on the hairline on the back of the neck. Many call these irritations razor bumps on your neck since shaving the areas is what causes the issue.

One way to help this issue is having laser hair removal treatments. With laser hair removal we are over time making the hairs lighter and finer and potentiallly damaging the follicle enough to stop growth of the hair. During the process we first laser the area. At that time the follicle is damaged and the hair will shed in about 10 days or so. After shedding the hair will be gone for about 3 1/2 weeks and then at that time will start to regrow but will come out lighter and finer. That is the time that we will treat the area again (5 weeks after the initial appointment).

If the hair is very thck and the area has an abundance of hair we may have to overlap the first few appointments to be able to get all of the hairs. After the 10 days if all of the hairs do not fall out then we will have you come in 2-3 weeks after the initial appointment so that we can get the rest of the hairs that haven't shed. Since half or more of the hairs are now gone its easy to get those leftover hairs. Most of the time just doing the treatment every 2-3 weeks for a few times you will be able to get on the regular schedule of coming in every 5 weeks.

After just a few treatments the area will be much easier to shave and will get less irritated when you do shave. We also suggest exfoliating the area at least once a day when you shower or wash your face by using a loofah sponge to exfoliate. The exfoliation will help to take the layers of dead skin off which will help the hair to release out of the follicle.

The price for the neck laser is $70 a treatment for either the front or the back of the neck. If you would like to treat the entire face the cost is $120 a treatment. We do have a 20% discount for military members and their family memebers and for teachers.

To prepare for the treatment we ask you to shave before coming in. We usually ask you to shave the day before for most areas so the hair is short but the area isn't newly irritated. But since the neck hair (especially on the front of the neck) grows so fast we suggest on this area to shave the day of. If lasering the back of the neck we highly suggest getting a fresh haircut a day or so before and we can then follow the lines that your stylist has made.
