Now that we have much more room at our new office we will be adding services. We are now scheduling appointments for micro needling. Micro needling is used to treat and improve conditions like acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigment issues.
The procedure uses a pen with fine needles that puncture the skin and create a controlled skin injury in order to rejuvenate the skin. The idea is that the damage caused by the needles encourages your body to send healing agents (elastin and collagen) to the area to repair them. By making tiny columns of drama in the dermis the body is forced to make new collagen to fill them in and heal them. The new collage makes the skin look and feel slicker, tighter, and more youthful.
Because the sun breaks down collagen and our body produces less collagen as we age any intervention that encourages increased collagen synthesis can make skin look and act younger.
We first numb the area for 20-30 minutes so the treatment is virtually pain free. The treatment takes only about 15-20 minutes to do the entire face and another 5 minutes or so for the neck and also for the chest area.
If you have active acne or tender acne cysts we will not micro needle over those areas. We can either work around the areas or wait until the areas heal to treat.
Micro needling is typically performed in a series of four to six sessions spaced about a month apart. You will get results after one but doing a series will only increase the results. Especially for working with acne scars and stretch marks more then one treatment is definitely needed to get optimal results.
Your face (or other area that you are treating) will be red after the treatment. You may feel slight discomfort the first 12 hours or so- very similar to if you have a sunburn. By the next morning most people only have slight redness left similar to having a slight sunburn. Any areas that we treat deeper- like fine lines, neck lines, acne scars- you ma have some red ness that lasts for a few days.
The second day we recommend applying some topical serums or creams with active ingredients that will now easily penetrate deep not the skin. By making tiny channels in the skin with the procedure the products can go deeper into the skin which is very beneficial. The skin may be slightly irritated with the products but well worth the small amount of discomfort.
Overall the treatment is a minimally invasive procedure. And of course if done in conjunction with a good skin care regimen you will see continued improvement in your skin.
Micro needling can cost a fraction of the price if getting laser treatments. And compared to strong peels and laser treatments the treatment is much less painful with a much shorter recovery period. Also the risks involved with receiving micro needling are much lower the with many other treatments such as peels and laser therapies. And with acne scarring the procedure is more effective then with other treatments.
We are also offering PRP with the micro needling treatments. The extra cost is $100 per treatment. Please let us know if interested in adding this service on. WE need to make sure that the LPN is on the schedule at that time to draw the blood and prepare the PRP>.
The price for micro needling at PBL is $250 for the full face. If you add the neck area the cost is $50 more as is the décolleté. Other areas must be evaluated for pricing.
